Tiger Joe, or as he is known in the Japanese version. Dynamite Joe (ダイナマイトジョー Dainamaitojō), is a one-of-a-kind elite enemy and all around cool dude encountered in God Hand as a recurring threat.

Appearance

He is a man who is stands a head taller than Gene with short brown spiked hair, and a goatee, eyes that are either hazel, grey, or dull green, and multiple scars over his body, as shown by the details on his legs and arms.

He wears an orange tiger patterned shirt with a matching pair of handwraps underneath a pair of brown leather fingerless gloves with studded knuckles, a leather belt with a Demon Seal for a buckle.

He also wears a pair of green pants with a camoflague pattern that have been torn into becoming shorts, with two pairs of two small belts over them, and a pair of boots that stop near his knees, with two small belts on both of them.

Personality

Tiger Joe appears to be a confident and prideful man, given his determined grin and confident body language, but he will chide himself in his post-defeat dialogue, and downright lament his inability to defeat you if you defeat him without using the God Hand.

Description

Introduced with all the fanfare of a sub-boss, Tiger Joe has all the qualities of one as well, as he has a relatively high amount of HP at 1500, a frustratingly effective move pool, and the distinctive ability to duck underneath Gene's attacks.

Tiger Joe is a agile, powerful, and durable man, who possesses no abilities other than his mastery of a Muay Thai-like fighting style he practices, and his status as a dangerous opponent in spite of this is a testament to his power and skill.

Abilities

• Duck: Tiger Joe ducks to dodge Gene's attacks. The rate at which he will dodge increases as the Difficulty Level goes up.
• Back-Hop: Tiger Joe hops away from Gene to either dodge an attack or to gain distance from him.

Basic Moves

• Double Snap Kick: Tiger Joe hops, and preforms a knee strike and a kick rapidly after eachother, in that order.
• Reverse Sweep: Tiger Joe gets down and preforms a sweep kick that bypasses Gene's ducking.
• Ax Kick: Tiger Joe raises his leg high and swings it downwards. This move can also bypass Gene's ducking.
• Triple Side Kick: Tiger Joe balances on one leg and preforms three rapid side kicks.
• Tiger Special 1: Tiger Joe preforms a front kick, then a roundhouse kick.
• Tiger Special 2: Tiger Joe preforms a high kick, then a high kick aimed higher than the last one.
• Retaliatory Sweep Kick: Tiger Joe hops over a low-hitting attack from Gene and preforms a standing sweep kick.

Special Moves

• Rainforest Fever: Joe preforms five kicks while bouncing on one leg, and then a Roundhouse Kick.
• Tiger Frenzy: Joe preforms a right roundhouse kick, a high cross kick, a left roundhouse kick, then a backwards heel kick, and then finally, a flying kick
• Dynamite Upper: Tiger Joe crouches, then leaps into the air and preforms a soaring uppercut. This can be considered his signature move, and he only uses it either as a counter attack when ducking, after he dodges a high-hitting attack from Gene by crouching, or when pushing Gene back while blocking.
• Knee Kick: Tiger Joe lunges to grab Gene, and if successful, will hold him in place while bashing him four times in a row with his knee. This move can be escaped by rapidly wiggling the L-Stick to the sides, but Gene will not preform a counter attack and this cannot be escaped without Tiger Joe doing at least one knee bash.

Locations

• Tiger Joe's first appearance is in Stage 6-2: Visiting Tiger Joe, where he appears leaning against a wall with his arms crossed after Gene jumps up from the pit where the two Black Amazonesses (and Mohawks and Lady Small Fries) are fought.
• He returns in Stage 6-8: Elvis's Wish, in front of the castle where Shannon resides in. He will jump down to fight you once more.
• His third appearance is in Stage 8-1: Death Shudder, leading an army of three Amazonesses (two Black and one White) and three Black Leaders with a Zebra. He will also spawn a Great Specter upon defeat.
• He also makes an appearance in the 31st Challenge of the Fighting Ring, alongside a Mohawk Leader.

Tips

• You can actually dodge most, if not all of his attacks by ducking, as they hit high, excluding his counter-uppercut, and counter him with moves like Half Crescent Kick, which in particular is very helpful as it can juggle him.
• When he starts dodging your attacks, wait until he actually starts blocking to use a Guard Break, as he'll instead retaliate with his Dynamite Upper if you attempt to hit him with a Guard Break while he's dodging.

Trivia

• In the Japanese version of the game Tiger Joe is called "Dynamite Joe", which explains why his theme song is named "Handsome Dynamite".
  • His name being "Dynamite Joe" in the Japanese version might make him a parody of Joe Higashi, who is also associated with tigers like Sagat and possesses a move called "TNT Punch"
• Most, if not all of his moves are kicks and knee strikes, with the exception of his uppercut.
• His eye patch and animal motif, as well as his name in the English localization, are a reference towards Tiger Joe from Kaiketsu Lion-Maru, a tokusatsu show from the 70s.
• His taunts "My defenses are impregnable!" and "My style is impetuous!" are quotes from Mike Tyson.
• The character Durga from Anarchy Reigns seems to be inspired by him, given how he wears a Tiger-patterened military uniform, similar to Tiger Joe's Tiger-Patterened shirt, possesses a cybernetic eye, similar to his eyepatch, and has a fighting style consisting almost exclusively out of kicks
• Tiger Joe bears some resemblance to Sagat from the Street Fighter series, due to their associations with tigers, their eye patches and use of kicks and knee strikes, as well as having an uppercut attack.
